Forestry Day at the Capitol

Minnesota leads the nation in sustainable forestry practices. Longtime logging communities in our region such as Grand Rapids and Bemidji are particularly invested in increasing the state’s competitiveness in the forest industry.

Participating in Forestry Day at the Capitol is one way to ensure that happens. APEX joined the Forestry Affairs Committee of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bemidji Area Forestry Affairs Council for this annual event in March.

It was a great opportunity to meet with leaders to discuss a variety of bills related to forestry in the Minnesota legislature in 2017 on topics as diverse as carbon sequestration and the Federal Wildlife Disaster Funding Act. A number of senators were on hand to hear our concerns.
