The College of St. Scholastics on Friday celebrated accreditation of its new Physician Assistant (PA) Program.

The designation was awarded by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education. It has been granted on a provisional basis. The first cohort of students, a group of 30, will begin their studies this fall.

During the first year, students will gain knowledge in the classroom. They will move into the field during their second year, doing clinical rotations in a variety of settings, said Dr. Kim Kruger, who has spent three years developing the two-year program. The process has included developing curriculum, hiring faculty and creating an advisory board.
