Cermak Rhoades will merge with LHB

Two prominent Twin Cities architecture firms are coming together to create what they expect to be a residential design powerhouse.

Cermak Rhoades Architects, a 26-year-old company with a strong emphasis on housing design, is closing its St. Paul office and merging with the Minneapolis office of engineering and architecture firm LHB.

When the merger takes effect Tuesday, about 10 Cermak Rhoades employees will make the move to Minneapolis, roughly doubling the size of LHB’s Housing Studio, said Rick Carter, LHB’s CEO.
