Economic Development

Laurie Kramka joined APEX in January of 2024.  Her responsibilities include tracking and managing the implementation of APEX projects.  To effectively fulfill these requirements, Laurie is responsible for defining project scope and objectives, managing schedules and work plans, identifying resources, networking with stakeholders and organizations, and ensuring timely project completion.

Laurie graduated from Bethel College with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and from Mankato State University with a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning.  She later received her Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science from St. Cloud State University.

After receiving her master's degree, Laurie began her career as a Housing Planner for the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, helping communities and organizations across a 20-county area to identify, develop, and implement strategies to address their housing needs.

In subsequent years, while following her husband through his career progression across Minnesota, Laurie had the opportunity to serve counties, communities, and organizations in multiple economic, housing, and community development roles.  Her most memorable role involved working at the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency as a Senior Housing Development Officer, where she served as the coordinator and manager of the State's foreclosure prevention programs and initiatives during the nation's foreclosure crisis.

Just prior to joining APEX, Laurie served as a Senior Planner at St. Louis County in their Planning and Community Development Department.

Laurie enjoys spending time with family.  She also enjoys walking along Lake Superior, hiking at State Parks, biking, gardening, and home improvement projects
