Essentia Health Taking Part in Innovative Trial to Prevent Fall Injuries

Maintaining an independent and active life is a high priority for most individuals as they grow older. A key to making that happen is to prevent serious injuries from falls that can suddenly change everything for and older person and his or her family. A major national study is underway in Superior to find the most effective ways to prevent fall-related injuries and to help test new prevention approaches.

The clinical trial is called STRIDE (Strategies to Reduce Injuries and Develop Confidence in Elders). Unique in its design, it was developed and is conducted with significant input from patients, caregivers, health care professionals, and other stakeholders interested in testing falls prevention strategies in real-world clinical and family environments. Essentia Health is one of 10 sites across the U.S. conducting the study.
