Essentia Health Cancer program earns national recognition

Essentia Health’s STAR oncology program is getting national recognition. STAR stands for Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation and focuses on helping patients heal physically and emotionally from cancer. The program’s founder, Dr. Julie Silver, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, asked Essentia’s STAR coordinator, Joan Jeanetta, to speak at the program’s national conference earlier this month in Boston.

“Dr. Silver approached me back in January and asked if I would be willing to present. She recognized the unique challenges we face as a four-state health system. If you look at a map, you can see how spread out we are,” Jeanetta says. “Yes, we had a lot of challenges, but we have had a lot of successes, too.”
