Rajala Woods underway in Hoyt Lakes

HOYT LAKES — Mayor Mark Skelton remembers when the City of Hoyt Lakes was notified by Minnesota Power last winter that they’d be cutting down some trees close to the Steven Chambers Pavilion.

“We had a whole bunch of concerned citizens,’’ Skelton said, including bird watchers and trail users. “They were all pretty concerned that the woods were being cut.’’

However, after Minnesota Power addressed those concerns, Skelton is supportive of the cutting and replanting efforts being undertaken as par of the Rajala Woods initiative.
