New headquarters building will boost Maurices' staff wellness programs

When Jamie Somrock started at Maurices four years ago, she never imagined how involved her role as wellness specialist would become.

"We have such active and involved associates," said the chiseled instructor as several associates (Maurices' name for its employees) began to find a yoga mat for a lunch-hour class last week. "It's endless. They're always asking for more."

The company's current headquarters feature a group fitness room and — several hallways, staircases and pedometer steps away — a gymnasium called Club 105 that's filled with exercise equipment.

Come next spring, when the company's new headquarters open on the 400 block of West Superior Street, Maurices' many health and wellness initiatives will segue into new digs that will feature all its gym space consolidated onto the ground floor and many other inventive ways to keep an associate's blood and creative juices flowing.
