Gearing Up For Grandma's: Essentia Health sports nutritionist ready to help runners

Essentia Health Registered Dietitian Amanda Joyce’s blueberry muffin recipe is about to be tested, big-time, this Saturday. Samples of the sweet treat will be on hand for runners to try at the Gearing Up For Grandma’s event March 21.
Joyce is one of a team of experts who will be on hand to meet with runners preparing for the big race in June. It’s her first year as the race’s sports nutritionist. “I’m excited to meet with the runners and talk about their nutrition and hydration before, during and after their runs,” Joyce says. “It’s critical for runners to make sure they have enough fluids, carbohydrates and electrolytes.”
Joyce works as a registered dietitian at Essentia Health-Duluth, in the Miller-Dwan Building and St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth where she helps patients in a variety of areas, including sports nutrition, weight management, bariatric surgery, and oncology. When she’s not working, she, too, enjoys running.
