National Bank of Commerce Participates in Minnesota Bankers Community Impact Week
Duluth, MN–September 18-22, 2017, is Minnesota Bankers Community Impact Week. During this week, associates from National Bank of Commerce will be volunteering in a variety of local projects, all with the end goal of helping to protect and preserve Lake Superior and our local watersheds.
On Tuesday, September 19, NBC associates will be working with the St. Louis River Alliance and the City of Superior to do beach restoration on WI Point. Restoring the critical beach habitat will help attract nesting pairs of the endangered Great Lakes Piping Plover.
On Wednesday, September 20, NBC associates will be planting a variety of 3,000 trees in the along the Western Waterfront trail in Duluth. The planting of trees corresponds to our collection of plastic bottles throughout all six of our branch locations as NBC has committed to planting a tree for every bottle collected. We are working closely with both the Urban Forest Commission and the City of Duluth to help facilitate this project. We would also like to thank North Central Reforestation, Inc. for their donation of 1,800 trees to help support our cause. Without their generous donation this project would not be possible.
On Thursday, September 21, NBC associates will be removing Buckthorn and Honeysuckle, invasive species, from Miller Creek in Duluth. The Duluth Invaders, a service initiative organized by the City of Duluth, will be working with us on this.
“We are thrilled our associates have committed to volunteering side by side with local organizations who are dedicated to preserving the environment we live in. As a locally owned business, we’re excited to demonstrate how we give back to the communities we serve. We have a rich tradition of giving back, it’s one of the many ways we make more possible,” said Steve Burgess, President and CEO of National Bank of Commerce.
National Bank of Commerce is the area’s largest locally owned community bank and headquartered in downtown Superior and has branches in Duluth, Hermantown, Midtown Superior, Poplar and Solon Springs. The banks web address is nbcbanking.com.
