GPM: A Business to be Pumped About

Not many enjoy celebrating turning four decades old, but those at GPM Inc. are cheering the achievement.

“We’re turning 40 this summer,” said Chief Executive Officer Peter Haines. “It’s an exciting milestone for us.”

Founded in 1978 by Peter Gemuenden, GPM has customers throughout North America. Gemuenden remains chair and president, and is engaged in setting overall strategy and direction of the company.

GPM currently has six office locations — including two in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and two in Ohio — with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manufacturing facilities in Duluth.

“We manufacture and market submersible, slurry pumps as well as represent 15 lines of rotational equipment,” said Haines.
