Regional Workforce Solutions Series Continues

Wednesday, May 02, 2018

On April 16, 2018, the City of Duluth hosted the second Workforce Solutions series aimed at addressing the region’s persistent workforce issues. The event, hosted in partnership with APEX, NORTHFORCE, the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board, University of Minnesota Duluth-Center for Economic Development, The Northspan Group, and several other workforce-related agencies, attracted nearly 100 employers and service providers in Duluth and 50 in Chisholm.

The series was designed to help businesses adapt to changes in the labor force and the declining availability of workers by providing tangible solutions to employee recruitment and retention challenges. Each session featured key insights from workforce development experts and a panel of business leaders representing companies from across the state and country. Best practices and tangible take-awaysare part of the value attendees received from the series.

APEX Senior Business Developer, Ian Vincent, played a significant role on the planning committee, helping to ensure APEX investor-members participated and concerns were addressed.

The third and final session will be held on May 16, 2018, in two locations – Grand Rapids' Timberlake Lodge at 7:30 am and Duluth’s Clyde Iron Works at 12:30 pm. The session will feature Nancy Lyons, CEO of Clockwork, an entrepreneur who speaks about the intersection of leadership, entrepreneurialism, technology, and people. She will explore the many facets of life at work and champions human-centered approaches to business.
