IAMC - Fall Professional Forum
Thursday, October 10, 2019
This year’s Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) Fall Professional Forum was held in Milwaukee on September 14-18. Brian Hanson, APEX President and CEO attended the forum, which was themed around improving company performance through corporate real estate. As many businesses seek to expand in the APEX region, the lineup of workshops and keynote speakers was especially relevant.
The conference blended targeted professional development with world-class knowledge sharing from key industry leaders. The session began with a welcome reception and dinner at the Harley Davidson Museum. World-renowned journalist Bob Woodward shared insights on what’s going on in Washington with elections on the horizon. Milwaukee-based economic development leaders presented a case study on bringing Komatsu’s new manufacturing facility to Milwaukee.
A series of workshops gave participants the opportunity to dive deeper into several topics including corporate real estate, re-negotiation tactics, lease flexibility options, the ‘build-to-suit’ trend, industrial site selection, attraction/retention strategies for the industrial sector and many more.
“Across the country, regions like ours face similar issues in managing a healthy industrial sector,” said Hanson. “IAMC Forums provide opportunities to learn from each other’s successes and challenges and create new strategies for strengthening our economies.”
